Performance contracts are a vital tool for enhancing service delivery, fostering accountability, and driving excellence across government institutions.
This morning, the Principal secretary state department for Agriculture Dr.kipronoh Ronoh Paul,CBS presided over the signing of performance contracts for the FY 2024/2025 with Heads of Department in the State Department for Agriculture. This marks a crucial step in driving their collective accountability and aligning their strategic goals with the broader government agenda.
The PS underscored the importance of performance as it determines how government officers use public resources to serve the public properly.
He urged HODs to lead by example, avoid tardiness, and be more proactive in their daily operations, as signed contracts are pegged on good results.
Dr Ronoh compared HODs to torchbearers of their respective departments and urged them to ensure proper execution of work plans. He also encouraged giving work instructions to junior officers to assess their daily performance.
Dr Ronoh also advised them to be better leaders and managers by providing solutions to problems affecting their departments and staff instead of shouting and vilifying them.
He urged HODs to communicate departmental goals, vision, and core values effectively and efficiently to boost morale.
He also commended his team for their dedication and commitment, which has positioned this Department as a key driver of transformative results. As they moved forward, he urged each Head of Department to uphold the highest standards of service delivery and ensure every target set reflects their unwavering commitment to national progress.
Together, they are paving the way for agricultural productivity and impactful results in line with Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)!
