For the first time ever, cane farmers will receive a bonus payment for their produce. Today, Agriculture and Livestock Development CS Hon Mutahi Kagwe today joined H.E. President Dr. William Ruto and the Deputy President H.E. Prof Kithure Kindiki at Mumias Sugar Company to celebrate this groundbreaking achievement in Kenyan history.

This milestone has been made possible through the government’s Sugar Reforms, aimed at revitalizing the sugar industry and improving the livelihoods of farmers.

As of the end of last year, Kenya’s monthly sugar production had surpassed the local consumption demand exceeding the local consumption.
The CS underscored the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the sugar sector, particularly in fast tracking the implementation of the Sugar Bill and in subsidizing sugar inputs and ensuring increased allocation of the subsidized fertilizer for sugarcane farmers.
