Capital Business reported that the 9th AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition will be held at Nairobi’s Sarit Centre from August 21 to 23, bringing together over 200 exhibitors from 16 countries to showcase breakthroughs in agriculture, poultry, food processing, plastics, paper, and tissue.
Organized by Dubai-based MXM Exhibitors, the AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition is poised to ignite economic growth for Kenya farmers by connecting them with cutting-edge tools and investors. Axan, event organizer at MXM Exhibitors, told Capital Business, “This exhibition serves as a bridge between farmers, manufacturers, investors, and researchers, rather than just a showcase,” highlighting its role in sparking agribusiness opportunities.

The AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition will feature innovations like automated grain storage, climate-smart poultry systems, and advanced packaging machinery, addressing key challenges in Kenya’s agricultural sector, which powers 33% of the nation’s GDP. With Kenya’s economy projected to grow by 3.7% in 2025, driven by commodity exports like tea and horticulture worth $7 billion in 2024 (World Trade Organization), the expo offers solutions to boost farmer incomes.
Axan noted, “Kenya is at a critical juncture—public debt is high, private-sector credit is tight. However, events such as the Agro-Food Pack can help to alleviate some of these challenges,” emphasizing the event’s economic potential.
Running alongside Grains Africa 2025, the AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition expects 1,205 visitors from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Rwanda, building on the 2024 event’s 1,200 attendees. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) enhances its impact by opening regional markets, crucial for farmers in areas like Kiambu and Nakuru.
Post-harvest losses, which claim 30% of crops like maize (costing farmers Ksh 50 billion annually), are a key focus, with exhibitors showcasing milling equipment and storage solutions. These tools could increase smallholder incomes, which averaged Ksh 50,000 annually in 2024, by up to 20%.
The AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition draws inspiration from regional successes. Ethiopia’s 2023 Agrofood event, with 2,500 visitors and 60 exhibitors, showcased packaging solutions. Nigeria’s 2024 agrofood event attracted €363 million in packaging investments, setting a benchmark for Kenya.
The Nairobi expo will feature pavilions from Germany, Italy, and India, offering farmers access to irrigation systems and feed mixers, vital for crops like tomatoes and maize, which you’ve shown interest in for their high market demand.

Kenya’s reliance on imported inputs, like 90% of fertilizers, opens opportunities for foreign investors, as noted by the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute.
The AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition facilitates these partnerships, with Anthony Mwangi, CEO of the Kenya Manufacturers Association, opening the 2024 event and urging local production. The expo’s 15-session conference, featuring 50 industry leaders, will drive discussions on market access, mirroring Ghana’s 2023 agrofood event with 1,384 visitors and 12 roundtables.
The World Bank reports nearly half a billion Africans live on less than $2.15 per day, making food security critical. The AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition tackles this by promoting technologies that boost yields and reduce waste, helping cooperatives like Ndarugu Dairy in Kiambu meet EU export standards.
Nairobi’s Sarit Centre, a trade show hub, will showcase tools to address challenges like those faced in Ukwala’s recent monkey invasion, protecting crops and livelihoods.
The AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition 2025 positions Kenya as an agribusiness powerhouse, empowering farmers with tools to thrive in 2025’s competitive market.
